This year’s rally marks the seventh successive year the off-road race has been held in South America. It will finish on Jan 17 after the 13 day, 9000km loop around the South American continent.
The Vanagas’ car looks especially stunning. It features an old Lithuanian symbol The Vytis.
In an interview to Motorsport.com, Vanagas said:
“I’m proud to be Lithuanian and the knight has been a symbol of my country for 600 years. It shows that even though we’re not the biggest or richest country in the world we can still fight like heros… and that will be our Dakar story too.”
Before the start, Vanagas and his teammates visited Berriso where they met with members of the Lithuanian community.
