Lithuanian stamps for Winter Olympic games in Sochi www.post.lt

Lithuania Post has issued two new postage stamps to commemorate the Winter Olympic Games commencing on February 7 in Sochi (Russia). The stamps feature a bobsleigh and ice-hockey players. The stamps dedicated to the Sochi Olympic Games have been created by the artist Irma BalakauskaitÄ—.

According to www.post.lt, In the course of a year, Lithuania Post issues on average 25-30 postage stamps.

Both stamps are nice, no doubt about it, except that neither bobsleigh nor ice-hockey players will be competing on the Team Lithuania at the Winter Olympics.

The team Lithuania will consist of nine athletes competing in five sports. The nine athletes mark the most athletes the country has ever qualified for the most important international winter games.   

Among members of the Lithuanian team, there will be one American, Isabella Tobias, who recently got granted the Lithuanian citizenship.

Born and raised in New York, Tobias has teamed with Lithuanian ice dancer Deividas Stagniunas since 2010.

2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia will be held from 7 to 23 February 2014.
