Film rights to Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys optioned Featured

Ruta Sepetys’ New York Times bestselling WWII-era novel Between Shades of Gray has been optioned by Sorrento Productions and Tauras Film.

The Hollywood Reporter gives more details about upcoming book to movie adoptation.

The film will be directed by Marius Markevicius, who will produce alongside Lithuanian producer Zilvinas Naujokas of Tauras Films.

Markevicius, a first-generation Lithuanian-American, is known for The Other Dream Team (2012), The Way Back (2010) and Like Crazy (2011).

The U.S.-Lithuanian co-production is scheduled to begin filming in 2014.

The name of the film will be changed in order to avoid confusion with the upcoming adaptation of EL James' Fifty Shades of Grey.

Published in more than 40 countries and 26 languages, Between Shades of Gray tells the story of a 15-year-old Lithuanian girl  who is deported to Siberia.
