Virgis Stakenas is a famous country musician of Lithuania who during his May visit in Omaha received a star-type reception by city mayor Jim Suttle.
Stakenas is from the 4th largest Lithuanian city of Šiauliai which is in a sister city relationship with Omaha.
His visit to Omaha was highlighted in the article ‘Grace: A songful salute from our Lithuanian sister city’ by Erin Grace in the March 19, 2013 issue of Omaha World-Herald.
The article reads:
“The 59-year-old performer, who looks like Kenny Rogers, dresses like Johnny Cash and sounds like Waylon Jennings (well, a heavily accented Waylon Jennings), tapped his foot and filled Suttle's third-floor City Hall office with this bluesy number.”
