Lithuania connects with Kolkata

On 16 February, the 3rd Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in India was officially opened in Kolkata, India, on the occasion of the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania. The Honorary Consulate is headed by a businessman Arvind Kumar Sukhani.

A-10 pilot explores roots in Lithuania

Two A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots with the 442nd Fighter Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., landed at Lielvarde Air Base in Latvia in the beggining of September, marking the first time U.S. fighter aircraft landed in the Baltic states.  One of the Air Force Reserve A-10 pilots making the historic landing was a Lithuanian-American Lt. Col. Michael Leonas. Taking advantage of the opportunity that he is already in the region, Col. Michael Leonas decided to explore his Lithuanian roots and flew to the country.

The University of Calcutta confered a posthumous doctorate on one of the world's greatest explorers — Lithuanian traveller and anthropologist Antanas Poska - the man who undertook an incredible journey to India on a motor bike all the way from Vilnius in 1929.

The number of Indian students is rapidly rising in Lithuanian higher education institutions.

After a great Lithuanian song festival in Chicago, now it's time to DANCE! On Sunday, July 3, 2016, thousands will gather from around the world in Baltimore, MD for the 15th North American Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival.
