Lithuania connects with Kolkata

On 16 February, the 3rd Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in India was officially opened in Kolkata, India, on the occasion of the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania. The Honorary Consulate is headed by a businessman Arvind Kumar Sukhani.

The new Honorary Consul in India will exercise consular functions in Kolkata. His jurisdiction includes the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal.

The Ambassador of Lithuania to India Laimonas Talat-Kelpša expressed hope that Lithuania’s new Honorary Consulate in Kolkata would contribute significantly to the development of bilateral relations, the implementation of specific cultural projects and representation of the interests of Lithuanian businesses.
The first Lithuanian book about Lithuania’s history in the Bengali language was presented during the opening of Lithuania’s Honorary Consulate in India.

The ceremony of opening of the Honorary Consulate was covered by the largest Indian daily in Eastern India, The Telegraph.
